Computerized Exam

Last Wednesday (February 3), the first ever computerized examination was administered by the author at the computer lab room 112. It was the semifinal exam of my Computer 4A students. So how does this works? The setup is a client and server architecture. I designated my laptop as the server and the workstation computers as the clients. The questions that I made ranges from true or false, multiple choice, and fill in the blank questions. After finishing the exam, the students were able to view immediately their ratings and scores. Only 4 students failed out of 40+ ! :D The software was also able to present to me a summary report - a list of students with their ratings, scores, and even their answers whether it is right or wrong.

I divided the class into two batches, since there are only 25 computers that are connected to the network. (The computers at the sides are not yet part of the network.)

There are some advantages. The exam will be evaluated by the software after the student clicks the Exit button and will be immediately informed of the result. The teacher will also benefit with this system. Goodbye to the time-consuming task of checking of test papers. :D

I am currently working with the part of adding an essay question capability to the software. So far, the system looks promising. I hope the school will support me on this.

PSG Elections 2010

Medyo late ang post ko ngayon. The Paulinian Student Government (PSG) elections was held last January 20, 2010, Wednesday (kaya wala kaming klase sa computer lab :D). Just like last year, success na naman! So far, minor lang naman ang mga problems na na-encounter sa technical aspects ng computerized system, like may mga hindi nala-logout na browsers. Pero ang importante ay fast and accurate ang results. The election started at around 7:30 am and ended at exactly 8:30 pm. Here are some of the documentation pictures I took.

Isa lang ang partido na sumali sa election kaya sayang walang thrill, hehe.. They will only be declared as winners if they got 50% or more of the total number of votes cast (sorry, baka mali ako).

Syempre, dugo at pawis na naman ang ibinuwis ng CEAC department para maging success ang computerized election. Salamat sa SEB sa kanilang effort para maging fair ang election (thank you din sa mga snack, lunch at dinner, ang sasarap nila! :D).

2010 Resolution: Buhayin ang Paulinian network

Matagal-tagal ng nananahimik ang social networking site ng SPSBL (http://spbspalo.ning.com). Isa sa New Year's resolution ko ay buhayin muli ang site. Pinalitan ko na ang theme, arrangement, pati profile picture ko bago na rin! :D

I try to send messages to some members. Dami ko ngang friend requests na dinagdag. Sayang kasi. This site will help Paulinians to keep in touch with everyone, pati kung anong nangyayari sa campus. Buhayin natin ulit ang mga forums. Namimis ko na ang mga discussions, seryoso man or mga kalokohan.

Alam ko mas maganda ang Facebook, hehe, pati ako addict dun, pero bigyan din natin ng pansin ang sarili nating social site. As an administrator of the site, I'll do my best / gagawin ko ang lahat na maibalik ang dating buhay at sigla ng site. Happy New Year Paulinians!

Ito ang unang post para sa blog na ito. Maganda ang timing dahil 2nd day of year 2010. Malapit na ulit ang pasukan, alam ko marami ang tinatamad pang pumasok... at magklase? (hehe, sino kaya?) Ganito talaga basta kagagaling lang sa mahabang bakasyon. Sigurado ako konti lang ang papasok sa Monday. Makapagbigay nga ng quiz!

Ano ba ang mae-expect natin sa blog na to? Di ko rin sigurado. Tungkol siguro sa mga nangyayari sa aking alma-mater na St. Paul's, or tungkol sa buhay ko, hehe. Hindi ako mahilig magsulat ng blog, pero baka malay natin e magustuhan ko. Teka muna at gagawa muna ako ng lesson plan ko. Happy New Year sa lahat ng students, teachers at employees ng SPSBL!
